Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data GetMeADI collects, why we collect it and the choices you have. We process data in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

1. Data we collect

• Instructors: name, email address, business name, contact number (WhatsApp mobile or landline), the centres you cover, postcode, areas covered, ADI number, lesson details, prices and an optional photo. If you sign up or sign in with Google, we also receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google.
• Learners: learners do not need an account. To use the search filters we ask for your mobile number, with your agreement. We then record what you search for, which instructor profiles you open and which instructors you message on WhatsApp or call, with the date and time. Your number is only remembered for your current visit, so we ask for it again next time.
• Other visitors: we keep a temporary session cookie and count how many times a listing is viewed or contacted, without identifying you.

2. How we use it

• To create and secure instructor accounts.
• To publish approved instructor listings so learners can find and contact them.
• To review listings and keep the directory accurate.
• To send account emails, such as email verification codes, password resets and listing approval updates.
• To help learners find a suitable instructor, for example by following up on WhatsApp, and to understand which listings learners find useful. We do not pass a learner's number to instructors; instructors only see it if the learner messages them.

3. What is shown publicly

Once approved, an instructor's business name, services, prices, centres, postcode, areas covered, ADI number, photo and a WhatsApp or call button are visible to anyone. An instructor's account email address is never shown. When a learner contacts an instructor on WhatsApp, that conversation happens outside our website.

Some listings are created from business information that driving schools have already published elsewhere, such as online business directories. These listings show the business name, contact number, town and postcode district, never a full street address, and link to the page the information came from. They are marked as unclaimed and are not offered to search engines. The owner can claim the listing or have it removed at any time using the "Is this your business?" link on the listing. A removed listing stays removed.

4. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We only share it with service providers who help us run the website, such as hosting and email providers, or when the law requires it.

5. How long we keep it

We keep an instructor's data while their account is active. When an account is deleted, its listing, services and photo are removed. We keep a learner's number and activity until they ask us to delete it.

6. Your rights

Instructors can see and update their details at any time in their account settings, and can delete their account there. You may also ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it. You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7. Cookies

We only use cookies that are needed for the website to work, such as keeping you signed in and protecting forms from misuse.
